The Vision
Japan rehearses earthquakes; everyone else improvises. Disaster Rehearsal Day is an annual street festival with a spine: the block walks its evacuation route, tests the meeting point, checks on its least mobile neighbors, and updates the paper list of who has a generator, a ladder, and medical training. Then there's soup.
